I've been reading this forum for a while and am hoping someone may have some insight into one particular symptom I have:
I've tested positive for Lyme (a weak positive but still positive) and have some other hallmark lyme symptoms so I'm pretty sure the diagnosis is accurate. I have many other symptoms that are showing some improvement to treatment over the past year but there's one symptom that's gotten worse: very severe insomnia plus nerve pain at night. To give an idea of how severe it is, sleeping pills + 10mg melatonin + medical marijuana will just *barely* get me to sleep by the middle of the night. It feels like I've been given a shot of adrenaline when I want to go to sleep, plus nerve pain (feels like shooting electrical pain, sometimes makes legs jerk due to pain). It feels like my body is actively trying to keep me awake and is trying to fight the sleeping pills, etc. Also, for some reason, iron and magnesium supplements (and some other minerals) make it much worse so I stay away from those. Even eating a high-iron meal can make it worse. I already have low iron (low ferritin count) so I know I don't have too much iron, and I stopped taking iron and magnesium supplements altogether 2 years ago.
